Studio Policies
These policies aid us in making sure your relationship with us is smooth and orderlySCHEDULE
- Lessons are scheduled at a mutually agreed upon weekday and time. Only one lesson per week is given. Lessons are only conducted on weekdays.
- Lessons will not be conducted on Weekends, School Holidays or Public Holidays unless via special arrangements on a case-by-case basis.
- If a student/parent wishes to change their lesson time mid-semester, this can be discussed on a case by case basis. However, this is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

- Winter/Spring = January through May (Spring Recital)
- Summer = June & July (Flexible)
- Summer/Fal1 = August through December (Winter Recital)

PAYMENT
You may choose either the Monthly or Semester payment options. Tuition covers not only the actual time spent with the student but the hours spent in preparation as well as:
– Lesson planning and preparation
– Development of teaching materials
– Virtual Lesson platform & equipment
– Teacher’s training and experience
– Studio expenses
– Continuing education
- Monthly payments are to be made by the 1st of each month. If payment is not made by the 15th of the month, lessons will be suspended until your balance has been brought current.
- Semester payments are to be made by the 1st of the first month of the semester. If payment is not made by the 15th of the first month, lessons will be suspended until your balance has been brought current.
- If 60 days have passed and no payment has been made for either the monthly or semester cycles and there has been no communication from the parent, the teacher reserves the right to terminate the student from PianoSpeak Academy.
TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide holistic instruction that helps the student fully develop into the pianist they desire to be.
- Tailor lessons and homework specifically to aid the student in achieving their goals.
- Provide a fun and structured yet relaxed learning environment that fosters growth, confidence and mastery for the student.
- Be open, honest and transparent with both the student and the parent(s) to forge a relationship of trust and teamwork between all parties involved.
- Be committed to personal development in order to properly impart the knowledge and skill that the student needs to be successful.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Log into each lesson on time (at least 5 minutes before start time) with correct books and learning materials.
- Show up with a “can-do” attitude. Disrespect WILL NOT be tolerated.
- Complete homework from week-to-week.
- Engage in daily, quality practice. This is VERY important in order to progress in mastery of the piano.
- Use the bathroom and/or eat BEFORE the lesson starts, not during the lesson.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be helpful, interested and supportive! BE A CHEERLEADER!
- Set aside regular practice time each day for your child to develop self-discipline and good practice habits.
- Encourage progress! Many small steps throughout the year yield great results.
- Provide a practice environment that is free from distractions or interruptions.
- Be financially responsible (pay tuition on time).
- Check the follow-up emails that contain your child’s homework and communication from the teacher, and hold the student accountable to complete homework.
MISSED LESSONS
- If a student misses their lesson for any reason except vacations and emergencies, the parent should inform the teacher by phone, text or email at least 24 hours before their lesson.
- Lessons missed due to family vacations are excused provided notification is given by phone, text or email two weeks in advance.
- A missed lesson due to illness, accident or family emergency is considered an excused absence. A make-up lesson will be offered at a different time. If there is another time slot available that week the teacher will offer it. However, availability cannot be guaranteed.
- Absences due to forgetfulness or oversight will not be offered a make up lesson.
TEACHER ABSENCES
The teacher reserves the right to cancel lessons due to illness, professional and/or family commitments. A make-up lesson will be offered in these circumstances.
DISCONTINUATION/TERMINATION OF LESSONS
If a student wishes to no longer receive lessons, please provide notice by phone or email at least three days before the first of the month. If a student decides to discontinue lessons and they have already been paid for on the 1st of the month, a refund will not be given. The student will receive the lessons that have been paid for until the end of the current month when the termination will take effect.
The teacher also reserves the right to terminate lessons for any student that exhibits consistent disrespectful and/or defiant behavior.
MARKETING COLLATERAL
- Parents are asked to provide a headshot of their child which is utilized on the digital flyer created for recitals. This head shot is NOT utilized for any other means.
- We will not take any photos of students and use them in marketing collateral without the consent of parents. We will always ask parents FIRST.
